Calling all Bookworms

Jane Addams Bookshop is the perfect place to curl up with a good book and escape reality for a while.  Don’t believe me?  Then just stop in, you’ll see what I mean the second you walk through the door.

This quaint little bookshop in the heart of downtown Champaign has an eclectic assortment of used, rare and out-of-print books along with other fun tokens like postcards, journals and other knick-knacks.  It’s literally a treasure chest full of masterpieces that will make every bookworm’s heart skip a beat.  With three floors booked solid, you’ll probably end up like me, totally engrossed in exploring every bookshelf, just to realize, an hour and a half later, that you’ve collected a dozen titles you haven’t seen in years.  I have to confess, I let out a yelp of excitement when I discovered an original copy of my favorite children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.  It’s something I know I’ll cherish for ages and one day read to my children and grandchildren.  It’s this discovery that instantly made me a lifelong shopper, and I want to tell everyone about my findings here.

Another thing I found out upon checkout is that Jane Addams also has a wide range of activities for book enthusiasts.  They host regular book signings with prominent writers, as well as book readings, children’s activities, art installations, book clubs, workshops and more.  This one-of-a-kind, locally owned bookstore brings flavor and spirit to our community and is a great reflection of what Champaign County is all about.

Jane Addams Bookshop can be found at 208 N. Neil Street in Downtown Champaign.  For more information, watch our video or visit their website at http://www.janeaddamsbooks.com/.
