New Year's Resolution

This New Year, I will join millions of others in a new year’s resolution to stay healthy this year.  After my holiday binge eating, which included having my fill of Christmas cookies, homemade ham, mashed potatoes and countless other foods that would send your taste buds into overdrive, I felt it necessary that I make a New Year’s Resolution that focused on rounding out my life and making it healthier.

And I’m not just talking about hitting the gym 5 times a week to sweat out all the calories I consume; I’m talking about choosing a more sustainable approach.  After having it pointed out to me that working out and staying healthy can actually be fun (shocking I know!), I tried to compile a list of some of the things that would appeal to me and not make me feel as if I was simply enduring a brutal work out.

So Champaign County, here it is.  And don’t be afraid to make your own list!  There are so many fun places to get your heart pumping in Champaign County, feel free to peruse through some parks and recreation as well as our sports facilities pages.  There’s something for everyone here.

1. Take classes at the Champaign Park District (they’re free if you sign up before January 8!)
2. Go ice skating at the Illinois Ice Arena
3. Try paintballing
4. Check out the ARC at the University of Illinois
5. Sign up for a intermural sports league

6. Bring back roller skating
7. Go ice fishing
