The Homer Soda Festival is Back!

Guest blog by Kate Boyer, Homer Soda Festival Director

Did you miss the Homer Soda Festival last year?  Don’t worry because we’re back! The Soda Fest will be bigger and better with unique additions that make this event worth the drive!

We have new bottlers such as Kickapoo Joy Juice with their flavors of Sangria, Piña Colada, Fuzzy Navel, and the original citrus flavor!  You can also meet the owners of a new brand, Pure Soda Works, with their gourmet flavors, such as Strawberry Jalapeno & Apple Pie, that they brew themselves in their commercial kitchen!  You can always find the classics like Bubble Up and Nehi flavors.  You can even meet a bottler from Ireland and try the soda that he brought all the way from the Emerald Isle!  Of course, you can also taste our own Homer Soda Maple Root Beer!  With 25 soda booths, each with 10 different sodas to try, you are sure to tickle your taste buds with your new favorite!

Tastings are only $.25 a piece, or unlimited VIP passes for $20.  Order online at www.homersoda.com/fest or look for the Mix 94.5 ticket booths to get your VIP and tasting tickets, located on the four ends of the event!

When you come, don’t miss the remarkable shopping.  There are dozens of artisan vendors with unique, hand crafted items and plenty of bbq or gourmet food to experience when you get hungry.  Like vintage vehicles?  The Sundowner’s Car Club will be having a car show 10a-4p, and then a Cruisin’ 4-7:30p.  Need to get in a run before the festival begins?  Run in the Heritage Music 5k & Fun Run at 8am!

Don’t miss the 2015 music!  The C-U Roots and Folk Festival created an incredible lineup of 6 bands throughout the day with Americana themed tunes.  Join us from 4-5pm for a special Children’s Concert by folk singer Little Miss Ann, sponsored in part by the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.

WBGL is providing free bounce houses to the children for the entire day, you can also enjoy the toddler town, experiments by the Orpheum Children’s Museum, and Dr G’s Brain Works.  Don’t miss the bubble demonstrations with bubbles as big as your car!  Stevie Jay Broadcasting will be bringing the Decatur Scovill Mobile Zoo from 1-4pm, you can meet some amazing wildlife up close and personal!  Slot & Wing Hobby will have an RC Track running, and Alpha Dog Entertainment will have Laser Tag!  We even have horse drawn carriage rides and trolley rides.

Slow down, sip some soda and experience small town life for an afternoon... We'll be waiting for you.
