You’re engaged, right? What’s that on your left hand? Your engagement ring! You’re going to want a wedding band to go with that rock of yours. Or maybe you’re still looking for the perfect engagement ring to symbolize a life-long commitment to your partner. If that’s the case, don’t be fooled with phrases like “Every kiss begins with K”, or the likes of other national retailers. Shopping local for this prized possession gives you more than just a ring. It gives you a unique story and a couple of new friends when you shop at Christopher & Co. in Downtown Champaign.
If you’ve ever been out and about during Summer’s Friday Night Live series, you’ve probably seen Christopher himself, outside his shop offering conversation and free jewelry cleaning. Now that’s customer service! Cleaning jewelry is one thing, but actually crafting it is another. Did you know that Christopher & Co. specialize in the design and craft of fine jewelry? This means you can literally tell them what you envision and they will work their magic, giving you a piece that is as custom as is the love for your partner.
We met Christopher (Owner and Designer), Julie (Senior Bench Jeweler), Libby (Sales Associate), and HeatherAnn (Gallery Manager) during our visit and were completely blown away with their expertise. It is clear as ever this is a team that is authentically passionate about jewelry and not just a quick sale. Their goal is to make sure your investment is loved for a lifetime. We got a private tour of the design studio located beneath their store, and take our word for it, their team is hard at work! We were also excited to hear that since opening their doors over 38 years ago, they have been an LGBTQ-friendly jeweler providing custom-designed bands for same sex couples. To amplify this inclusivity, they developed the Love is for Everyone campaign in-store, on the website, and through social media as well as serving as a title sponsor for the CU Pride Fest.
Your rings are an expression of your love and commitment and should come from a business as equally committed. A custom piece from Christopher and Co. is about as Outside of Ordinary as it gets.
