Come learn about the Orpheum’s animals! The Orpheum Education Team will talk to visitors about our animals, followed by an animal feeding time. Participants will take a closer look at our aquatic turtles, land turtle, bearded dragons, and corn snake.

The Spurlock Museum joins the UI's Rare Book & Manuscript Library and the Sousa Archives and Center for American Music in celebrating the 60th anniversary of Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel, "Casino Royale." Unlike all the other Bond novels, which were sold to a single company, Eon Productions, for filming, Casino Royale went through several producers and was made into three startlingly different films.

The beauty of a starlit sky conceals violent forces at work within our universe. From the upheaval of a giant star that explodes to black holes, to a possible encounter between the Earth and a large asteroid that is too close for comfort, we will witness the forces that hold the universe together and occasionally try to rip it apart. Narrated by Patrick Stewart of Star Trek: The Next Generation and the X-Men films. Admission is $5 adults; $4 students, seniors and children under 12, available at the door.

Explore the night sky with our friends from Sesame StreetTM. Join Big Bird, Elmo, and Hu Hu Zhu as they take an imaginary trip to the Moon. See how the Moon is different from the Earth and learn how to find the Big Dipper and North Star from your backyard. This interactive show for young children was co-produced by the Adler Planetarium, Sesame Workshop, the Beijing Planetarium, and Liberty Science Center. Admission is $5 adults; $4 students, seniors and children under 12, available at the door.

The Chanute Air Museum is honored to host a meeting of Red Star Pilots Association over Memorial Day weekend (May 25-26.) We hope to have anywhere from 8 to 18 YAK 50/52 aircraft in the skies over Rantoul and on the airport ramp. Attached is a flyer with more details about the event. Our fun loving staff has three full days of great free activities planned for you and your little swimmers. Grab the kids, put on your sunscreen, and get your summer started in style with the staff of the Sholem Aquatic Center! As former Chicago Cub Ernie Banks would say, "It's a great day for a ball game; let's play two!" Enjoy Memorial Day with some high school baseball at the home of the Big Ten's University of Illinois Fighting Illini at Illinois Field.  Come out and cheer on your team as they compete for a chance to participate in the 2013 IHSA Baseball State Championships the following weekend!  Two super sectional champions will be crowned in Class 1A & 2A.  First pitch of game one is slated for 12, Noon with second game slated for 3:00.
