Martin Luther King Jettie Rhodes Neighborhood Day is a FREE family friendly event that takes place annually the 4th Saturday in June. Enjoy FREE food, live entertainment, cook-off/bake-off contests, kid activities, raffles and so much more. This event was started by the late Mrs. Jettie Rhodes who was a prominent and active leader in the Urbana community. Mrs. Rhodes believed in unity, diversity, families, more importantly, children. Mrs. Rhodes passed away in April 1998 but her legacy continues to live on and the impact of the community continues to respond. A pavilion was dedicated to her and this year on top of the celebration, we will celebrate the new sidewalks in King Park and a memorial bench that was funded by Thirvent Financial for Lutherans and built by a local Boy Scout Troop with the assistance of the Urbana Park District staff. Come help us celebrate!
