Pygmalion l is an independently produced, multi-faceted, week-long celebration of culture. From its humble beginnings in 2005, and over the span of a decade plus, the festival has always remained true to its mission: showcase the best of what’s out there, alongside the best of what’s here.
Here is Champaign-Urbana.
We’re an unassuming little city, comprised of two large towns, and a massive R1 Big Ten University in Central Illinois.
In other terms, we are a true micropolis. We are a space where one can live well, and affect real change in the community, and afford the opportunity to do it.
And that’s why we’re able to put on such an impressive event within the confines of such a small space. We pride ourselves on getting big things done in a small space.
So come explore with us.
In 2016, we’ve added yet another new component to the mix: a Food Festival, that will expand Pygmalion into the weekend prior, which will extend our programming and make for a more comprehensive and exciting week of cultural events.
Additionally, we’re growing the scope of what TECH means to the festival as well. The Literary Festival is back for more, and we’ve partnered with Book Fort for good measure. And Made Fest will be lit this year, and not just figuratively. Friday and Saturday will now extend into evening hours, after dark, for a true taste of a Bohemian street market.
And for the 12th consecutive year, we’re more than proud to present yet another fantastic lineup of some of the brightest and celebrated musicians on the scene today.
Whether you are from right here in Champaign-Urbana, or just down the road, or from out of state, we welcome you to our little corner of the world. We’re sure excited that you’ve chosen to join us.
Indeed, it is a festival experience unlike any other. About that, you can be sure.
