Over 200 cyclists traveling across the state of Illinois utilize Champaign-Urbana as an overnight stop.  Starting from the town of Cairo, Illinois’ southernmost tip, and ending in the heart of downtown Chicago, Bicycle Illinois is a 6 day tour covering approximately 500 miles spanning the entire state. 

As a multi facetted facility, the Rantoul Fitness Center boasts an indoor track for walking, gymnasium, 8 racquetball courts, locker rooms with saunas, and a play room for children.  The center also includes a supervised weight room with assorted equipment, cardio room, golf training room, and personal training.

Every November the best high school football teams in the state travel to the University of Illinois Memorial Stadium in Champaign-Urbana to compete for the state title.  The weekend is action packed with 8 back-to-back football games boasting over 30,000 in attendance.  Outside the Stadium participants and fans can visit and utilize Tent City for all of their celebration activities.

Every February the top individual wrestlers in the state of Illinois gather in Champaign-Urbana at the University Of Illinois Assembly Hall.  Over 30,000 spectators watch as some of the best athletes go for the championship.

Lake of the Woods County Park is a 900-acre preserve that features an 18-hole regulation golf course, a 9-hole par 3 course and practice range, fishing, hiking, picnicking, cross-country skiing, sledding, the HI-tower bell carillon and observation area, 3.3 mile bicycle/pedestrian path, the Early American Museum, Mabery Gelvin Botanical Gardens, building rentals, and programs.

During the past 10 years the Parkland College Athletic Department has achieved unparalleled success at the Conference, Regional, State, and National levels.  The Cobra's Baseball team won the 2002 National Championships and were runners up again in 2005.  There as also been several conference titles and all-american awards earned.
