Visit Champaign County to Host Conference for Illinois Meeting Planners

Champaign, IL – The Illinois Society of Association Executives (ISAE) selected Visit Champaign County to host their 2016 ISAE Summer Session, to be held July 20–22, 2016. This statewide conference will bring 150 meeting planners from a variety of Illinois-based associations to the community for educational sessions, networking opportunities and a familiarization tour of Champaign County.

“We jumped at the chance to bid on the ISAE Summer Session in order to get these influential meeting planners into our community,” explains Leah Longueville, Director of Sales for Visit Champaign County. “Being able to showcase our impeccable facilities, beautiful campus and unparalleled entertainment options to over 150 planners is key to driving meeting and convention business to Champaign County.”

Working with four area ISAE member hotel properties—Hyatt Place (the host hotel), Hilton Garden Inn, Wyndham Garden Inn and Eastland Suites—Visit Champaign County was able to prepare a competitive RFP that highlighted Champaign County’s affordability and diversity.

“The members of the Illinois Society of Association Executives are looking forward to a great ISAE Summer Session next July, 2016 in Champaign,” states Kristen Butcher, ISAE Special Events Co-Chair. “The Special Events Committee and Board of Directors were blown away with the thorough and progressive proposal from the CVB and their industry partners. Not only are we going to have an opportunity to see many local hotels and establishments to consider bringing our events to in the future but the attendees will get a true Champaign experience."

The event, held over 2 ½ days will allow each ISAE member facility the opportunity to showcase their property and amenities for meetings and conventions. Visit Champaign County will also be offering numerous networking opportunities after the educational sessions, showcasing various attractions such as downtown Champaign, the University of Illinois, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch.

“The impact of the ISAE Summer Session will be felt for years to come,” states Jayne DeLuce, President & CEO of Visit Champaign County. “Based on industry research, meetings and conventions create a $219 impact per person per day. When we have the capability of hosting events with 300 people for multiple days, you can see how quickly this can positively impact direct spending in Champaign County.”

Visit Champaign County is seeking sponsorships from local organizations looking to attract business from meeting planners. For more information on how to get involved in the ISAE Summer Session, contact Leah Longueville at 217-351-4133 or leahl@visitchampaigncounty.org.
