Midwest hospitality is a significant part of Visit Champaign County’s “Outside of Ordinary” story for visitors. To recognize and encourage this mentality amongst the area service industry, Visit Champaign County will launch the “Cream of the Crop” recognition program in January 2018.
“We understand that we are often not the first point of contact for visitors when they come into the community,” explains Leah Longueville, Director of Sales for Visit Champaign County. “Often times, it’s the front desk staff at an area hotel, or a barista in a café that is engaging with visitors, helping us to tell our story. We want to recognize those individuals that go above and beyond for their customers, and our visitors.”
Visit Champaign County is seeking public nominations for the new recognition program. Whether you’ve had a tremendous experience with a local retailer, a local bartender, a volunteer at an event, a housekeeper at a hotel, or anyone in between, Visit Champaign County wants to hear about it. Nominations are accepted online.
Winners will be recognized on the third Friday of the month and will be celebrated through Visit Champaign County’s social media channels and at the annual Toast to Tourism, held May 9, 2018.
“We’re really excited to recognize the people on the front lines in this community,” states Jayne DeLuce, President & CEO. “They are the reason we are an ‘Outside of Ordinary’ destination.”
Nominations will be accepted throughout the year with winners recognized monthly.
