Weekend Preview January 26-28

With the weather feeling a lot less frigid, the days getting longer, and the overall atmosphere of the greater Champaign County area feeling less like winter, there's no shortage of activities, indoor and outdoor, for this beautiful weekend. Champaign County Area Restaurant Week headlines the showcase of amazing events! Great food, great fun, it's a can't miss weekend here in the greater Champaign County area. 

Outdoor Events

Corn-Cross 2018: Bicyclist from allover can join in this series of exciting races through Urbana. An afterparty at Riggs Brewery will follow the completion of all the races. 

Family Fun

Movie in the Mansion: Come to Allerton Mansion’s Library Friday at 6pm and enjoy a roaring fire, popcorn, hot chocolate, and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

Mudpuppy Festival: Monarch Brewing Company and the Land Conservation Foundation are hosting the first annual Mudpuppy Festival on Saturday, January 27 from 2-5 pm. 

Amazing Stargazing!: Learn all the sky watching basics with the fun radio DJs from “Radio Aahs.” A great introduction to the night sky, originally produced by the Minneapolis Planetarium. Saturday at 7pm. 

Tango at Krannert Art Museum: Enjoy tango dancing with live music by Tangotta. Saturday at 1pm. 

Euchre Tournament: This roundrobin style Euchre tournament will take place the last Sunday of every month starting this weekend. Sunday at 1pm. 

Illini Women's Basketball: Come out and cheer on the Fighting Illini Women's Basketball team as they take on Wisconsin. Sunday at 3pm. 

Shows

Live Stand-Up at C-U Comedy Club:  Paul Farahvar, Laugh Factory comedian and "Singles Only" host, headlines this Saturday's show at the C-U Comedy Club. 

UI Symphony Orchestra: The premier orchestra at the University of Illinois will perform works in celebration of Mozart's birthday in this concert.

Mozart: Overture to Marriage of Figaro
Mozart: Arias and duets from The Magic Flute and others. Saturday at 7:30 pm. 

Fun Home the MusicalFun Home is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes. Friday at 8pm. 

Brushville: Brushville blends four extremely talented musicians, with incredible harmonies, an explosive stage show and a fresh, dynamic sound produced by an array of instruments to create an unforgettable experience for the audience. Friday at 8pm.
