Living Outside of Ordinary: Week of 10/1

Living Outside of Ordinary: Week of 10/1

In the past month, how many days can you truly remember? On average, a few days, 4 or 5 if you’re lucky, stand out from the daily routines we all experience. That’s why Visit Champaign County is launching our new “Living Outside of Ordinary” Campaign aimed at residents and visitors as a means to encourage everyone to discover new places throughout the greater Champaign County area.

Each week, we’ll give you one thing to do each day, something Outside of Ordinary, to make sure you have a way to make each day memorable. We’ll be busy brainstorming over the next year to make sure you have ways to break out of the routine and immerse yourself in the amazing things happening right in your backyard. Some will be events, but others may be something as simple as getting outdoors, meeting a friend for a drink, or checking out a new store or restaurant. The goal is simple: when you’re Living Outside of Ordinary, you’re making memories, so we can all cherish each and every day.

For the first week of October, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to make seasonal memories with the family, ways to partake in international traditions, and turn every day into an opportunity to practice Living #OutsideofOrdinary.

Monday, October 1 – Shop for gifts and home décor at the new Checkered Moon location on South Neil, opening today!

Tuesday, October 2 – Start your Halloween costume hunt early and beat the crowds at Dallas and Co. Don’t forget to stop by this weekend too for the 30th Annual Magic Weekend!

Wednesday, October 3 – Check out the Art Theater’s Shocktober Film Festival for an evening of curated horror, science fiction, and dark thrillers from all over the world.

Thursday, October 4 – The weekend doesn’t have to begin Friday! Jump the gun and head over to Cowboy Monkey for happy hour drinks!

Friday, October 5 – Take one of the tours scheduled around Chambana for Manufacturing Day, highlighting the #OutsideofOrdinary industry that helps build progress in Champaign County.

Saturday, October 6 – Get ready to “Iss, trink und sei fröhlich” (eat, drink, and be merry) at CU Oktoberfest!

Sunday, October 7 – Explore the Homestead Bakery and over 300 different species of pumpkins and gourds at the Great Pumpkin Patch.
