Living Outside of Ordinary: Week of 10/29
In the past month, how many days can you truly remember? On average, a few days, 4 or 5 if you’re lucky, stand out from the daily routines we all experience. That’s why Visit Champaign County is launching our new “Living Outside of Ordinary” Campaign aimed at residents and visitors as a means to encourage everyone to discover new places throughout the greater Champaign County area.
Each week, we’ll give you one thing to do each day, something Outside of Ordinary, to make sure you have a way to make each day memorable. We’ll be busy brainstorming over the next year to make sure you have ways to break out of the routine and immerse yourself in the amazing things happening right in your backyard. Some will be events, but others may be something as simple as getting outdoors, meeting a friend for a drink, or checking out a new store or restaurant. The goal is simple: when you’re Living Outside of Ordinary, you’re making memories, so we can all cherish each and every day.
With Halloween in the middle of this week, this week is truly #OutsideofOrdinary as we watch the festivities change from frightening to thankful, with a little of the December holidays creeping into the mix. It’s a fun, festive time to be in Champaign County!
Monday, October 29 – Who wants to make dinner on a Monday? Not us. Grab pizza and play a few games of bowling at Old Orchard!
Tuesday, October 30 – It’s the Last Farmer’s Market in Downtown Champaign, so grab some ingredients for a fall feast! Don’t fret; the Urbana market moves indoors for the colder seasons!
Wednesday, October 31 – Check out the Crowley Pumpkin Glow, with over 400 carved pumpkins lit in Mahomet!
Thursday, November 1 – Start your morning at Allerton for their Fall Color Tree Hike!
Friday, November 2 – It’s day one of the Chris Cringle Craft Fair! Grab some homemade decorations for the holiday season!
Saturday, November 3 – If you’re not familiar with the holiday traditions of Diwali, learn all about it with a Diwali on the Quad event at U of I!
Sunday, November 4 – It’s Daylight Savings Time! Instead of using your extra hour to sleep, get outdoors and spend one hour in your favorite spot in Champaign County!
