A Very Merry Weekend: November 17+18

 

We haven’t hit Thanksgiving quite yet, but you can get a taste of the holiday season this weekend in the greater Champaign County area. On Saturday and Sunday, a number of #OutsideofOrdinary holiday experiences are taking place that are sure to get you in the holiday spirit!

 

 

The Country Christmas Craft Show is a family favorite, and is entering its 36th year! Come get holly jolly Saturday November 17th, 8 am - 5pm, and Sunday November 18th, 9 am - 3 pm at Gordyville USA! All taking place indoors, you can stay warm while also warming your hearts to a number of holiday events, such as a harvest lunch each day from 11am-2pm, pictures with Santa on Saturday from 9am-3pm and Sunday from 10am-2pm, and over 300 booths of holiday goodies and creations from all over the country! A $1 donation is recommended, and parking is free! Just 5 miles east of Rantoul, this event’s volunteers and participants put on an incredible holiday spectacular every year, with all show proceeds benefiting local community projects.

 

If you’ve ever been to a showing at the Staerkel Planetarium, you know how much fun they are, and with the holidays coming up fast, this show is sure to get you educated and energized about the upcoming season! What? Santa has lost his compass and can't find his way home? Sounds like a disaster in the making! Can the stars help? Learn about the day and night sky and how the stars seem to make pictures in the sky in or holiday show for young stargazers .Learn how YOU, too, can find Santa's Secret Star! Showing this Saturday night at 7pm, tickets for adults are $6; students, seniors and kids under 12 are $5, with all tickets sold at the door. Fun for the whole family just got very merry!

 

The ever-popular Festival of Trees takes place Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 11am to 5pm, and Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 11am to 3pm, showcasing some amazing holiday decorating to support the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana. Friday night, all family members and children 12 and under are welcome to dance and enjoy a private viewing of the Festival of Trees during the Family Winter Ball, and Saturday night at 6:30, you can grab tickets for the Junior League of Champaign Urbana’s first Community Impact Awards Gala. Breakfast for Santa is also being offered Saturday morning and features a story time with Santa and Mrs. Claus along with the opportunity to meet and take photos with the featured hosts while enjoying a delicious breakfast buffet.
