Indoor Activities for All in the Greater Champaign County Area
With snow making a ferocious debut in the new year, it can be tough to get out of the house. Luckily, there are plenty of things to do indoors in our area, especially if you’re willing to try something a little Outside of Ordinary!
Summer Fun in the Winter Months
Just because it says January on the calendar doesn’t mean you can’t play like it’s summer! The Urbana Aquatic Center can satisfy that craving to hit the pool with open swim hours and plenty of room to bring the whole family. If you’re longing for a summer treat, you might be driving by Custard Cup and longing for a cup of your favorite flavor out on the patio, but a walk-in for something sweet can easily put you in that summertime state of mind, no matter how much snow is outside the window.
Get Active and Out of Hibernation
Sometimes all you need to get out of the winter rut is get active. You might always think of exercise as a chore, or maybe assume in the winter there’s nowhere to move around, but you have options depending on your mood. A favorite is Elevate Trampoline Park, an all-ages center with 30,000 feet of trampolines to bounce, pounce, and move in a way you’ve never moved before. Urbana Boulders is also a great opportunity to move in an Outside of Ordinary way. Any experience level is welcome to climb their way to their new favorite hobby.
Retail Therapy to Refresh the Home
Retail therapy is real, and it doesn’t always have to be frivolous. As you slowly take down holiday decorations, you might notice that your home is a bit bare. You don’t need a whole new set of décor, but a few crucial pieces might help you feel refreshed and be a great excuse to get out of the house and explore some of home décor and related shops. Some flowers can make a real difference this time of year, and A House of Flowers in Rantoul can help brighten up the grayer months of the year. Check out their collection in store, and while you’re out, a few cute pieces at Checkered Moon might be waiting for you in Champaign. Little changes make a big difference this time of year, and heading out of the house to do some shopping is a great way to get quality time with friends and family.
