Love the Greater Champaign County Area: Food

Valentine’s Day was yesterday, and all week we have been reflecting on why we love our community. There’s plenty to see and do in the greater Champaign County area, so we’re asking you to post each day about things you love about the area! Today, we’re talking food!

As Midwest Living’s Greatest Midwest Food Town, the amazing cuisine in Champaign-Urbana extends throughout the entire greater Champaign County area. With so many regions of the world represented in our community’s food scene, everything you could imagine can be found here in our backyard. We just finished up our popular Restaurant Week, which this year featured over 30 restaurants from all over the area, including additions in Rantoul, St. Joe, and beyond. It’s a great opportunity to try places you have never been before, and shameless plug, we’ll be back for Restaurant Week 2020 next year from January 24 - February 1!

The robust Farmer’s Market scene in the greater Champaign County area also offers top notch, locally grown produce and food products for your home cooking. With Monticello, Champaign and Urbana’s popular Market at the Square, nearly every inch of our area is within short driving distance to local food courtesy of our local farmers.

Great cuisine isn’t just food, though. It’s also wine and beer! We’re lucky to have so many great local breweries and vineyards in our area, offering adult drinks for every palate. Local food and drink alone, we are also lucky to have so many internationally popular chain restaurants to choose from, expanding our options with more coming to our community every year.
