Living Outside of Ordinary: Week of 4/1

Living Outside of Ordinary: Week of 4/1

In the past month, how many days can you truly remember? On average, a few days, 4 or 5 if you’re lucky, stand out from the daily routines we all experience. That’s why Visit Champaign County is launching our new “Living Outside of Ordinary” Campaign aimed at residents and visitors as a means to encourage everyone to discover new places throughout the greater Champaign County area.

Each week, we’ll give you one thing to do each day, something Outside of Ordinary, to make sure you have a way to make each day memorable. We’ll be busy brainstorming over the next year to make sure you have ways to break out of the routine and immerse yourself in the amazing things happening right in your backyard. Some will be events, but others may be something as simple as getting outdoors, meeting a friend for a drink, or checking out a new store or restaurant. The goal is simple: when you’re Living Outside of Ordinary, you’re making memories, so we can all cherish each and every day.

No fools today, just a few ways to make this week #OutsideofOrdinary! You’ll notice Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are all various ways to enjoy the Boneyard Arts Festival, which takes place all over the county this weekend. Before that, find ways to buy books, step into spring, and see a moving documentary about Vietnam.

Monday, April 1 – Find your new favorite book at the Spring Book Sale at the Urbana Free Library!

Tuesday, April 2 – Spring in your step for some warmer weather? Check out Body N Sole for a new pair of running shoes to motivate some extra movement!

Wednesday, April 3 – Meet the filmmaker of Forgetting Vietnam, a moving film about the country and its small spotlight on the world stage, at Spurlock Museum!

Thursday, April 4 – Check out art honoring the Ojibwe, Navajo, Shoshone-Bannock, and Cheyenne tribes at the Native American House!

Friday – April 5 – Check out the grand opening for 24 year old entrepreneur Billi Jo Hart’s first photography studio, Boudoir Studio in Urbana!

Saturday, April 6 – Hear poetry all day at the Jane Addams Book Shop!

Sunday, April 7  – Celebrate Sunday Funday at Blackbird, with live performances all day in conjunction with Boneyard!
