Living Outside of Ordinary: Week of 4/8

Living Outside of Ordinary: Week of 4/8

In the past month, how many days can you truly remember? On average, a few days, 4 or 5 if you’re lucky, stand out from the daily routines we all experience. That’s why Visit Champaign County is launching our new “Living Outside of Ordinary” Campaign aimed at residents and visitors as a means to encourage everyone to discover new places throughout the greater Champaign County area.

Each week, we’ll give you one thing to do each day, something Outside of Ordinary, to make sure you have a way to make each day memorable. We’ll be busy brainstorming over the next year to make sure you have ways to break out of the routine and immerse yourself in the amazing things happening right in your backyard. Some will be events, but others may be something as simple as getting outdoors, meeting a friend for a drink, or checking out a new store or restaurant. The goal is simple: when you’re Living Outside of Ordinary, you’re making memories, so we can all cherish each and every day.

This week is all about the cinema. With Eberfest bringing in amazing films and stars from Wednesday-Saturday, this week seems as good as any to spend a lot of time in front of the screen. With a classic animated favorite in Savoy on Monday and the 21st annual Mountainfilm on Tour at the Art Theater on Tuesday, Ebertfest takes us all the way to a lazy Sunday with your favorite movie on the couch and some takeout.

Monday, April 8 – See Studio Ghibli animated feature Howl’s Moving Castle at the GQT Savoy 16!

Tuesday, April 9 – Catch The 21st Annual Mountainfilm on Tour at the Art Theater!

Wednesday, April 10 – Ebertfest presents Amazing Grace – a 1972 concert film starring Aretha Franklin, with discussions featuring the director and more!

Thursday, April 11 – Ebertfest presents Rachel Getting Married – a film Roger loved, with discussions from execs behind the movie!

Friday – April 12 – Ebertfest presents Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion – a classic comedy with discussions from the director!

Saturday, April 13 – A double feature to end Eberfest, Almost Famous and Sideways, featuring film critic and partner Richard Roeper and actor Virginia Madsen.

Sunday, April 14  – Stay on the couch and watch a movie, but not before you grab Soul Food Sunday takeout from Caribbean Grill!
