"Beneath a Summer Sky: Watercolors by Carol Carter" includes paintings by the St. Louis artist. As with all Giertz Gallery programs, the exhibit, reception, and lecture are free and open to the public. For more information about the gallery and additional programming for the exhibition, please visit Parkland.edu/CarolCarterExhibit. In tandem with the solo exhibition, Giertz Gallery will host a two + 1/2 day workshop, June 14 - 16, led by Carol Carter and focusing on her approach to watercolor. For more info or to register, please visit Parkland.edu/CarolCarterWorkshop. Carol Carter's paintings contain dualities of clarity and ambiguity, sanctuary and threat, and joy and sorrow. Water and nature have been recurring themes within her work. Her preference for saturated color, and often a larger scale, contribute to intensity or tension in the resulting images that can be seductive, powerful, and sometimes strangely disquieting. |
