Join others for an afternoon of creativity and community. In difficult times, art and creativity can provide a chance to heal and connect to others. At this event we will have art supplies as well as some inspiration and ideas from local artists. Come draw, cut, color, collage and write with us.
Let’s come together as a community to make some beautiful reflective art! Participants are invited to both make and take a piece for themselves and also to make and donate a piece to the Healing Hearts Community Collage which will be on exhibit at Museum of the Grand Prairie in September of 2022.
Special guests:
- Cindy Sampson is a mixed media artist with over 30 years as a professional artist. She works with eco dyed paper and hand painted papers that she incorporates into her artwork. Cindy will be assembling donated pieces from this workshop and beyond, into a collective piece at Museum of the Grand Prairie called, “Healing Hearts: Community Covid Collage.”
- America is a local painter and the owner of Simply Made by Mery, offering custom acrylic paintings. She's participated in Urbana's Culture Fest as a featured artist.
- Danyla Nash is the inaugural City of Urbana's Youth Poet Laureate and a founding member of the Writers of Oya. She is passionate about sharing creative writing and spoken word.
