"Many Small Steps: a Staerkel Planetarium Open House and Celebration," will be held Thursday, July 25, 5–7 p.m. at the planetarium.

The event will honor several occasions, including the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing of Apollo 11 and the first show held at Staerkel Planetarium (1987). The open house also will honor retiring planetarium Director David Leake and welcome a new director to the dome, Natural Sciences Associate Professor Erik Johnson, who is set to take the helm in early August.

This reception will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, displays, and a brief program.

Those interested in attending the celebration are asked to RSVP by Thursday, July 11 via web form on the Parkland College website or by email to planetarium@parkland.edu.
