Pie on the Mind for Pi Day (3/14)
March 14th is Pi Day! For our math minded residents and visitors, this may bring about thoughts of equations, arithmetic, and STEM related projects and plans. At VCC? Pi Day brings to mind one thing: delicious, decedent pies! We’ll leave the math to students at Parkland and U of I, because today we’ve got local pie on the brain! Here are some of our favorite places to grab pie in the greater Champaign County area!
With two locations now, Pekara is a sure fire way to get a pie fix, plus a great latte or more sweet treats. The Instagram worthy Hopscotch Bakery + Market is also always a favorite, especially for special occasions. When spending the afternoon in Mahomet, Lucky Moon is always serving delicious ways to cap off a fun day, and pie a la mode is the perfect way to cap off a delicious meal at Yoder’s in Arthur as well.
We’ll admit, we’ve spent lots of time daydreaming about the endless menu at Pies by Inge in Monticello, especially for an out of this world fruit pie like triple berry or apple praline. A favorite in Urbana, Po’ Boys has deep roots in C-U, and an incredible array of pies for every palate. Lastly, when you’re on the go or grabbing lunch at the Urbana Food Truck Rally, a day has never been made sweeter than with a mini pie from the Oh, Honey Pie Food Truck.
Can you tell we love pie? We’re sure you do to! Let us know what your favorite slice of pie in the greater Champaign County area is on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
